XCSSA Field Trip: New-Tek Open House, Nov. 14th

Our group was invited to the New-Tek Open House, November 14th.

It was a cool field trip! Read on!

We got there at around 7ish. It was Tom, Charles, Othneil, Jeremy, Bruce, Shannon, and Randy. We arrived and had a look around and got some food in us. Got to see the new Video Toaster in action (waay cool), as well as the new Lightwave (tweeks has some of his own info on it here), and other cool projects. We got a special "backstage tour" and was show the back R&D offices, got to talk to their head hardware and software techs, saw the server room where their on line presence is maintained, and got to see "The Amiga Room".. :). Then we all went and got our hand prints on their big new white wall at the entrance, and wrote our names and group name down. Cool Stuff! We'll try to swing by and get a couple pictures of the cool people and sights there. Definitely a cool trip!

  • Who's New-Tek?
They are the people who basically CREATED the term "Desktop Video". They created the Video Toaster back in 1987 that gave the Amiga the ability to do four camera analog video switching, real time digital video effects (on an analog video stream), CG-titleing, AND production quality ray tracing--all in one nice clean package for under $10k (costing >$100k for equiv. hardware at the time). Now the Video Toaster has turned into a 100% NLE (non-linear (digital) editor) product for NT/2k.

    RECRUITERS LOOK HERE

Our user group's members are not your
normal run of the mill geeks. We pride our-
selves in having a wide array of technical and IT
professionals who excel in their fields. I have found
that I can bring most any question to the group and get an
insightful answer, and thus, have begun point recruiters to our
members as a service to both. Feel free to contact the members below
for job history and resume information. They're a powerfully diverse resource!
