I'm saying regular COTS drives like Maxtor that I got from Office
Depot don't have them:

$ sudo badblocks -n -v  /dev/hda1
Checking for bad blocks in non-destructive read-write mode
>From block 0 to 40131
Testing with random pattern: Pass completed, 0 bad blocks found.
