Hey all!

Well, we don't do this too often.. but there will be no XCSSA meeting this
month. This is partly because the Open Source fest seems to be what everyone
is focusing on this month (even SATLUG is cancling their meeting), plus I
won't even be in town on the 17th when our normal meeting would have been.
So the planets have aligned I guess.

Instead.. come check out the Open Source Fest THIS WEEK from
Wednesday-Saturday! Myself and other XCSSA, SATLUG and Rackspace geeks will
be giving cool presentations. More info on the Fest site:
	http://cis.sac.accd.edu/~skolars/satlug/

Or even better yet... volunteer to help out! Send Steve and email from the
link above.

Overview:
The four day event (Wed-Sat) will be held at the Alamo Community College
District's Advanced Technology Center on Kelly USA (yes, the old air force
base). They have a very cool multimedia center there with classrooms, an
auditorium and more! Map here:

(If I have the time, maybe I can get a better map w/building photo together in
time.)

My little song and dance (presentation) is on Saturday from 1pm-4pm. It will
be a rather non-technical, but interesting presentation on "The State of the
Linux Desktop". I will focus on the Linux Desktop (past, present and future)
as well as personal and business best practices for migrating to Linux on
both the desktop and the back office/IT infrastructure side of the house.
Fun fun.. good info if you work for a bunch of Windows-and-none-other
types. ;) But if I were you.. I would rather check out my co-worker's
"Regular Expressions" presentation (held at the same time as mine) on bash
scripting with sed and awk! :)

Want A Job?:
Also.. Rackspace technical recruiting will be there on the last day, Saturday
15th from 10am-2pm with pizza and folks to chat to about positions we have at
Rackspace. If interested.. bring a resume with you. Current job slots are
here:	http://www.rackspacecareers.com/joblistings.php
We are really looking hard for experienced Linux Sys-Admins with
apache/sendmail/bind/networking experience.

NOTE: If you can't make the Rackspace meet-n-greet on the 15th, or you just
want me to personally check out your resume and try to get it directly to the
eyes of the hiring manager, then fire me a PDF copy to hire-me@theweeks.org
and we'll talk.

Ok.. well that's about it. Hope to see you at the Open Source Fest!

Tweeks
p.s. Please forgive any grammatical errors here.. it's quite late.. ;)
