Okay, I was a sucker and went for the download link to the Windows Vista
Beta. I loaded it on to an AMD Athalon-64 3000+ with 1gig of RAM and an
ATI Radeon 9200
with 128megs of DDR Video RAM, and an ATA133 40gig hard drive all to
itself. After one week of suffering with this I have now removed the
Vista Beta and installed 64bit Ubuntu. It was so slow...(How slow was
it?), it was so slow I wished it was XP! And every time you want to set
something like the date or time you are asked if you know that accessing
the system can cause security problems or some such warning. It was
just aggravatingly slow. I thought I had a nice system and it is about
2 years old, and I realize it is not top of the line. But if the Vista
Beta is any indication, I will have to run one of the lesser versions of
Vista without the eye-candy. This isn't a really big deal, but I do
like things to look nice and sometimes I like a little candy. Thank God
there is Linux. Peace, Dennis in Victoria
