I kind of got a sense of fuzziness from your description of what you
wanted to do.
Can you go back and define exactly what the requirement is? e.g.:
You wish to have your family view images you have stored using only a
web browser.
Or:
You wish to allow your family to manipulate those images as though
they had them stored locally on their Windows computers (SMB share)
There's no difference between accessing content and having it served
to you... same thing, You're talking about transfer of data across
the Internet, it's just a question of what programs you want to use to
perform that transfer, and whether it is one time, or multiple times.
BTW, I wasn't concerned about him _buying_ SAN hardware so much as
getting confused trying to understand what a SAN actually _is_...
