Good afternoon all. Our facility at the Health Science Center is in need of
a part time computer guru. I have been doing it all myself, but it has come
to the point where I simply cannot handle the work load by myself. So I'm
reaching out to the LUGs to see if somebody would be interested in a part
time job helping me and our facility.

A little background on what we do, we are the Bioinformatics Core Facility
at the Health Science Center. We mainly support the high performance
computing needs of various departments and other campuses nation wide. We
currently have a x86_64 cluster and two i686 clusters devoted to computing.
The x86_64 cluster is connected to TiGRE which is a high speed network
connecting the major Texas research facilities. The two other clusters will
be connected shortly once I have time to configure them.

We also support the Access Grid needs on campus. Access Grid is a high
bandwidth teleconferencing system built by Argonne National Laboratories. It
is gaining popularity on campus and at the Texas Research Park.

What we are looking for is someone that can:

Build a system from spare parts
Replace damaged hardware
Debug various problems associated with hardware or software
Setup and run our portable Access Grid node
Upgrade and patch various system software
Some XML scripting (for building of the clusters and remote builds)
Some audio/video experience (how to setup a camera, mic placement, running
cables, etc..)

Not all of the above skills are needed, but basic computer knowledge and how
to build a system are a must. The rest we can teach. Programming and Linux
experience a plus, but not required.

If you are interested in this position my contact information is below.
