For years, I've been using a freeware utility, PC2Amiga, to connect my
Amiga 3000 and my Windows 98 machine for file transfers.

I believe you can use parallel or serial cables. I believe I am using a
parallel "laplink" cable. A good place to find out about this is on
groups.google.com.

Once you get it working, it's very reliable, except its window on PC
needs to be kept on top or the connection waits too long and quits after
awhile. This happens no matter how you set the terminal settings.

I understand that it works on Windows XP also...you have to create a
virtual DOS/98 window for it. You can find out more about that on
groups.google.com. I though I'd be moving to XP last year, but I've
generally found XP so horrible (one giant piece of closed-system adware)
I'm still sticking with 98 (and Mac OS X) and using my XP machine as a
Sonos fileserver only.
