I did not get any new consoles this Xmas although I am aiming to acquire an Xbox 360 this
spring with some of my tax refund money. Then I will be ready for "Grand Theft Auto IV"
which is coming out in October.
I did get six new games for Xmas to play around with in the meantime:
"Soul Calibur III" - PS2
"Snoopy vs. The Red Baron" - PS2
"Painkiller: Hell Wars" - Xbox
"Lego Star Wars: The Video Game" - Xbox
"Black" - Xbox
"Halo 2" - Xbox (I also got "Red vs. Blue" (Season Four) for Xmas as a companion piece)
I am also playing around with Xploder HDTV for my PS2. It is a disc that will allow you to
play most of your PS2 games in Progressive Scan. Some of my games will work with no
issues. Then I have others that work but with a couple of minor things. And I have a few
others that glitch up so bad they are unplayable or won't load up at all. A very interesting
product.
I could give a demo of Xploder HDTV using a specially modified PS2 (model SCPH-30000). I
managed to acquire RGB video signals off of the motherboard. However, my incessant
hacking has disabled the machine's ability to properly timestamp my save games (plus it
can't do anything other than RGB video because I messed up the sync mixing chip) so I
don't use this unit often.
I managed to acquire another SCPH-30000 unit for $40 from a pawn shop (it has disc read
issues) that I intend to restore. I plan to use the RGB modified unit to poke around to see if I
can trigger Progressive Scan off of the motherboard and use the knowledge I gained from
this unit on the new one.
I also completed my guide for "Bully" and uploaded it to GameFAQs. It is also one of the
games that work beautifully with Xploder HDTV.
I'll talk to my supervisor to see if I can get scheduled in a way so I will be able to go to this
month's meeting. Being that the holidays are over I don't think I'll have much trouble with
scheduling. Considering that there is more than one Robert posting right now I'll also attach
my GameFAQs user name to help tell us apart.
