I agree. From what I've been hearing, it still isn't ready for prime  
time. (not that I have much interest anyhow, since I don't want to  
pay for TV, and they don't want to sell super-fast internet)

Meanwhile, this past weekend I talked with from someone living in  
Denton, a Verzion city. They are burying fiber as fast as they can  
and going nuts getting FIOS installed, though mostly so they can  
compete with Charter (?) for cable TV. They hope to be fully  
installed there by 2009 or so. And you can get fixed IPs with FIOS  
too. I hear they've even been able to expand a bit into nearby SBC&T  
territory.
