Yeah. Move to Denton (or College Station) where Verizon is the ILEC.  
Or make a friend up there who will let you colocate a computer in his  
house. They're burying fiber like crazy, and should have all of  
Denton lit up by late 2008 or early 2009. (part of the reason is that  
they want to compete with Charter for cable TV)

The U-verse DSL data upload speed (when they actually start taking  
real customers instead of just test markets) for the forseeable  
future is capped to a mere 1Mb (with 3-6Mb download), even if the  
DSLAM vault is in your backyard. Verizion's FIOS is something like  
15Mb/5Mb with 5 static IPs.

(FWIW, I have about 6/600 with my SBC&T DSL.)
