Yes, i still exist.. :P
I have a hardware question that I'm sure that will perplex you parallel port
prodigies and some other nonsense.. :P
I'm working with an HP JetDirect printserver (external) with a 25 pin
parallel port cable. The project is to connect an LCD to it
there are several lines that if I connect together, the printserver says it
is online. Namely Select, AutoLF, Error/Fault. I know that Select is from
printer to let the computer (printserver) know that the printer is in ready
state(tied high) and that Error/Fault to let the computer know that the
printer is in a non-fault state (tied high to indicate OK.) I think the
Auto/LF is high from the computer/printserver to let the printer know that
it is not to wait for a manual CR/LF before printing the next line. Do
either of those lines go low while the printer prints to serve as any kind
of ACK?
I have a bunch of LEDs conencted to the D0-D7 pins, and STROBE and when I do
the test page print by pressing the button on the front of the printserver,
I get a single blink and a data bit on the LEDs. Using HP's WebJetadmin, I
see that the printer is stalled, and that I have to reset the printserver to
restore it to the online state.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
