I suppose it's good that not all scientists agree. If they all =20
agreed, we'd know they must all be wrong. However, by far the =20
largest body of scientists and scientific organizations acknowledge =20
that the majority of the current global warming appears to =20
anthropogenic:

An increasing body of observations gives a collective picture of a =20
warming world and other changes in the climate system... There is new =20=

and stronger evidence that most of the warming observed over the last =20=

50 years is attributable to human activities".[

That's from the IPCC report in 2007. Nearly every relevant =20
scientific organization endorses this view, as you can read at =20
Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change

No evidence of "momentum shifting." If anything, there is less =20
official controversy about the basic ideas of global warming than 15 =20
years ago. There is more confirmatory evidence now, and nothing new =20
has arisen to significantly challege it. The basic skeptical ideas =20
are pretty much the same now as 15 years ago. Often times when =20
people are claimed to have changed their views, they haven't really =20
changed that much...current skeptics most often were skeptical before.

You can also read about global warming skeptics at Wikipedia:

The link you provided was hosted by a well known Republican senator =20
(Inhofe), and it led to lots of links to sources such as Forbes =20
magazine. That publisher also has a well known political =20
background...such as running for President once and maybe again... I =20=

didn't see any "new" evidence, simply a reciting of old arguments =20
that have been around for a long time. The primary "evidence" is =20
simply a list of skeptics with impressive bios. But you'd get an =20
even more impressive list on the other side.

I know of fellow leftists who also think global warming theory is a =20
conspiracy. They see it as a conspiracy started by the Nuclear =20
industry, including Al Gore, who they describe as pro-Nuclear. =20
(Meanwhile Gore is slammed by many pro-Nuclear folks for his =20
criticisms of nuclear power.)

Quite often enviromentalists cite the "precautionary" principle in =20
areas like this, even if the science were not "overwhelming" (though =20
in this case the evidence is arguably overwhelming anyway).
