Hi everyone,
I'm cleaning out some old junk. And I'm trying to get rid of a bunch of
hardware that has been clogging up my office space. I'll have a lot of
old junk to give away as I get it sorted out. Of course, I'm not sure
anyone wants 5.25 flooppies or even 3.5 floppies any more. But to begin
with - the large items.
I've got a couple monitors to give away. The first works perfectly,
although its been a few years since I had it fired up. Its a big Sun
Microsystems 21 inch (or 22, I don't remember) built by Hitachi with
part #365-1000-01. The only problem with it is that I've given away the
RGB cable to it. Since it only takes one of those five BNC RGB cables -
you'll have to get one to use it.
The second one is a newer, made to work with normal PCs, but has a
problem. Its a Dell 21 inch with a Trinitron tube. I got it a couple
years ago second-hand. In fact, you can sometimes still see the Novel
banner burned into the screen. It was a refurbish that I got cheap and
has worked OK for a couple years.
But the people who "refurbished" apparently turned the gain WAY up to
get it to pass tests. Even setting the brightness and contrast down
very low left it very bright. And you can't get a black background, no
matter what you do. All this pushing it has apparently had a bad
effect. The monitor still works GREAT for text. But when you boot it
into a GUI - it appears very washed out. Very bright and low contrast
makes GUI screens difficult to see.
Both monitors are free to anyone who wants them. Just let me know
before the garbage man comes Tuesday. They'll both be going out in the
trash Tuesday if no one notifies me before then.
