Small? OK, here is small. Unfortunately the price isn't as small.
Not really an integrated, this is once again a power amp with level
controls, a Parasound Zamp for $299. Two inches high and nine inches
wide.

Parasound is a high end manufacturer. In the past I've seen similar
small units (possibly more rounded and convenient for carrying) by
Creek and Musical Fidelity for about the same price, but they're not
on Audio Advisors list anymore. I myself currently use two big
Parasound amps. All designed by John Curl, one of the biggest names
in high end audio.
Of course, for the same price as the Zamp you could get a midline 30
pound 100 watt 5 channel receiver made by Onkyo or Yamaha with
optical inputs, etc.
You can also get powered speakers with digital inputs. But the only
ones I know about are expensive, $600-$20,000, and used by
professional musicians.
There are lots of PC powered speakers with analog line level inputs,
starting at $20. You don't get more than you pay for. M-Audio is a
brand for musicians that makes high value products, and they have a
line of powered speakers called "Studiophile" starting at $129:

I can't vouch for the sound of their speakers, but their electronic
toys are excellent.
BTW, small correction. The 80W per channel Audio Source Amp I have
is actually an Amp/ONE, which can now be had for only $169.
Adjusting for inflation, your STA-150 would cost at least $100 today
if anyone made anything like that. But it wouldn't be worth it for
most people, because we now have better stuff for that price or close
to it. But bigger and heavier.
