Yep, always backup your data, in fact multiple locations are good.
Here at the HSC, our main backup server is in my office and I keep a
mirrored copy of it on another backup server at a different campus
location. In case of an act of god (remember the tornado that hit the
HSC a few years back?), fire, whatever else can happen, I can always
restore our data.
