Now that I've finally got my tax refund check I was able to acquire Mac OS X Leopard today. Took me about an hour and a half to install. The look and feel of the new system will take awhile to get used to.
In addition, I also acquired an Xbox 360 HD-DVD player (an add-on for the Xbox 360) from Best Buy. When these were first released they ran about $200 bucks. Then the price dropped to about $150 and it stayed that way for awhile.
But when Toshiba pulled the plug on HD-DVD MicroSoft did the same to the HD-DVD player. Now the players sell brand new for $50 and they are going FAST. BTW, you do NOT need a Xbox 360 to use one. You can hook it up to your PC. The Windows drivers are included in the hardware. I don't know about Mac yet. So, if you want to try high definition movies on the cheap (well, not that cheap - the prices for HD-DVD movies haven't begun to drop.....yet) then this is a good thing to acquire.
In addition, this can help save wear and tear on the Xbox 360 DVD-ROM drive when I want to play movies regardless of format. I don't watch movies as much anymore but I will try to acquire the HD-DVD versions of "The Chronicles of Riddick", "A Clockwork Orange", and "The Matrix" trilogy. BTW, the "Peter Jackson's King Kong" HD-DVD movie and the Universal Media Remote comes bundled with the unit so you don't have to buy anything additional at the start.
Rumors are FLYING that MicroSoft may release a Blu-Ray player for the X360 but I'll believe it when I see it.
