Earlier this month I purchased "Bully: Scholarship Edition" for my Xbox 360. However, this game has gotten a lot of bad publicity because of frequent crashes and glitches (I myself have had ten crashes since March 4). Apparently Rockstar Games, in an effort to keep this game from being run over by the GTA IV juggernaut (late April - I've had my copy pre-ordered since September 2007) released "Bully: SE" unfinished.
(NOTE: Rockstar Executive Producer Dan Houser said that they never had these problems at all during Quality Assurance testing. Being a former gametester myself I have the following to say about that: If he is telling the truth then I'm Hideo Kojima (+2 gamer points to those who know who he is).)
Anyway, Rockstar Games is releasing a patch for "Bully: SE" to correct these problems (release now, patch later. Ugh.). More than likely it will be available almost exclusively through Xbox Live (I have written to Rockstar Games about alternate methods of acquiring the patch - no answer yet). The problem here is that Xbox Live requires a broadband connection and I don't have broadband.
But I was told that you can still hook up the Xbox 360 to a dial-up connection and use it to download stuff including game patches (but not play online). The thing here is that you hook up the Xbox 360 to your computer through the ethernet port and get your computer to share the dial-up connection with the Xbox 360.
I hooked up the Xbox 360 to my Mac Mini and got the sharing part done. However, the Xbox 360 and my Mac can't seem to work together. When testing the connection between the Xbox 360 and the Mac it fails at the IP Address. The problem is that the Xbox 360 is "unable to negotiate a lease with the DHCP server". What kind of tweaks need to be done to either my Xbox 360 and/or the Mac to solve this problem?
I should note that the "Bully: SE" patch is not available yet. However, there is a patch for "The Darkness" that was recently released. It primarily fixed online lag for multiplayer but I am hoping they fixed some other problems (like the sound for instance). So that is what I am aiming for right now. If I can get the patch for "The Darkness" now then I can get the patch for "Bully: SE" later when it comes out.
(@ Tweeks: I don't know what happened the first time I tried to send this post. Sorry for the inconvenience.)
